[ The feed switches on and the first thing you'd see is the close up face of a Cyndaquil, making noises and moving its little arms at the screen until a voice pops in. ]

Axel, what are you doing? [ A pause, and the PokeGear is picked up, moving to show Xion next. She's propped against a wall, most likely sitting on something, but the thing that could be noticeable on her is the gauze pad covering most of her left cheek. She blinks at the screen, then looks back down where the Cyndaquil would be. ]

I guess I should show a bit of my progress... [ There's an affirmative chirp before she fully turns her attention to the PokeGear. ] I finally arrived at Cherrygrove. I'm in a PokeCenter right now.

[ She pauses as she presses a button on her Gear. ] It's still a little while before I get to Violet... [ And she does have to wait for Cecil. ] But we'll get there.

[ Axel is making more noise, almost as though it wants more attention, and Xion smiles slightly, turning to him. ] We made some progress, didn't we? [ Then she turns the screen to show her Cyndaquil waving happily, his flames a bit bigger and brighter on his back. ]

That's something I've learned about pokemon. They're actually really tough and can take a few hits.

Still...I guess it means that you and he are closer now to, by trying to save him.

He started breathing fire after I got hurt. He didn't really do that before; he just tackled them.

So he gained a level? Once they reach a certain level, they can learn new attacks. I don't know how they do it though.

Not every time. They sort of learn attacks at varying levels, but they always get stronger with every level they gain.

And I can help Axel get stronger by telling him what to do?

Yeah. When you start battling, you tell him which attacks to use, and that'll weaken the other pokemon. If you defeat it, your pokemon gets experience, but you can also weaken it to the point where you can capture it.

Which do you think I should focus on? Getting a team or building up the ones I already have?

It's always good to have more than one pokemon, I think. Especially if one faints.

It's possible to do both. I prefer having a team.

I think there's a lot of pidgey and rattata around Cherrygrove. Rattata are good pokemon to have.

... I don't think Axel won't let me catch some of the Rattata. [ The Pokemon was rather adamant about not letting those rats get near his Trainer by tackling them the moment he saw them. ]

Really? Maybe try to catch a pidgey then, or a hoothoot. A flying type is good to have.

Oh, I already have one, Roxas. Sora gave me back a Pokemon I once had, and she's a Normal/Flying type.
