[ She's been contemplating this, yes, ever since she got her ass handed back to her by Vanitas. She's lost, sure, many times in fact... but this one in particular... ]

How... when do you know you're strong? That you're not weak?

[ She might end that last sentence in a bitter hiss. Sure, she's lost, but when it involves her friends (and Pokemon), it becomes another thing. She couldn't beat Vanitas, came out even more battered, and well aware her appearance would worry friends. So lately she's been hanging around the roof of Goldenrod City's Department Store.

It sounds like she's going to say more, but whatever it is dissolves into a sigh and stops. ]

You can say that... [ She might ask what "that" might be, so: ] I got into a fight.

... A fight with who?

A guy named Vanitas.

[ OH NO HE DIDN'T-- ] Where are you??

[ S-She's actually a bit surprised at that outburst. ]

Um... Goldenrod's Department Store?

Did you take care of yourself yet?

[ there's some rustling and shifting in the background; someone's on the move. ]

[ ... those sounds. ]

Yeah, for now. The doctors said I should still come back for check ups.

[ Pauses. ]

Is something wrong, Rise?

Nope. Just stay there for a sec, okay?

[ ... oh, darn. It sounds like she's already on the move, and she doesn't want to be rude and just leave her like that, so she sighs. ]

[ She'll be on the roof of the Department Store, sporting a cast on her right forearm, a black eye, and a bunch of other bandages that aren't covered by her clothing. ]

[ Rise's showing up in a matter of minutes, a little out of breath from running-- and then she loses her breath completely at the sight of her friend. ]

Whoa-- you look horrible!

[ Xion turns in her seat. Rise looks really breathless, so Xion stands to see if she needs help.

Like. Seriously. ]

I... I'm fine, really. It's been a few days, anyway. [ Pauses. ] Sorry.

Why are you apologizing? [ breathless or not, Rise swells up. ] That jerk should be the one saying sorry!

For... worrying you?

[ Because that is totally the worst worse offense here. ]

[ She just hangs her head for a bit, not knowing what to do here for the moment.

Ah... ] Are you feeling better, though, Rise?

Me? Yeah, I'm fine. [ moving closer to look Xion over. ]

[ She stays silent as Rise walks closer, watching her. From the looks of things, Rise already knew Vanitas, or heard some things about him. She hoped Vanitas hadn't given her some trouble before, if that was okay. ]

... How'd this happen? Did he attack you?

I, well... we started arguing with each other because I found out he got into a fight with a friend of mine. Next thing I knew, we started fighting.

And it ended like this.

Yeah. [ Hangs head. ]

Hey... he's a massive jerk, don't look like that.

Still. A friend of mine... she told me to watch out for him, but he didn't act as I'd thought he would. [ Oh, Kairi. ]

I just didn't listen.
