Bell, on the other hand, is chirping happily and flying around in circles. There's a roar outside. Despite all this noise, Xion notices the seashell by her pillow and picks it up, staring.

Apparently some idiot were experimenting on Shedinjas and managed to create a variety that do suck the souls out of people. Regularly occurring Shedinja don't affect people this way.
