[ The feed switches on and the first thing you'd see is the close up face of a Cyndaquil, making noises and moving its little arms at the screen until a voice pops in. ]

Axel, what are you doing? [ A pause, and the PokeGear is picked up, moving to show Xion next. She's propped against a wall, most likely sitting on something, but the thing that could be noticeable on her is the gauze pad covering most of her left cheek. She blinks at the screen, then looks back down where the Cyndaquil would be. ]

I guess I should show a bit of my progress... [ There's an affirmative chirp before she fully turns her attention to the PokeGear. ] I finally arrived at Cherrygrove. I'm in a PokeCenter right now.

[ She pauses as she presses a button on her Gear. ] It's still a little while before I get to Violet... [ And she does have to wait for Cecil. ] But we'll get there.

[ Axel is making more noise, almost as though it wants more attention, and Xion smiles slightly, turning to him. ] We made some progress, didn't we? [ Then she turns the screen to show her Cyndaquil waving happily, his flames a bit bigger and brighter on his back. ]

I wouldn't want to trouble you... And I don't even know where you are. [ For all Xion knows, Minnie could be in one of the other cities far away from Cherrygrove. ]

I think he loves fighting though. I know it's strange, but you need to get used to it.

[Xion gets some excited chattering from the egg pokemon, flailing her arms a little. Hi person-who-looks-like-trainer!]

[ Surprisingly little glaring! In fact, it's more like...confusion. Because seriously, what. ]

[ Nods. ] I will.

[ She smiles in greeting at the Togepi, and waves back. ] Hi, Salty. This one looks like the one that evolved by seeing me when I was talking with Sora.

[Naminé has to keep the gear out of reach since Salty starts reaching for it again. Cue pouty little egg.]

They're supposed to evolve from happiness. I guess I haven't been happy enough for her to reach that stage yet.

[ Blinks again. She's grateful, but she's not exactly down about anything? For whatever reason, though, Xion feels it'd be rude to decline. ]

Thank you. [ A beat as she tries to think up a topic. ] I'm starting to get used to this world. I think.

A group of bird Pokemon, I think. [ Didn't get a chance to whip out her PokeDex to tell them that they were a flock of wild Pidgeys, but hey. ]

[ Smiles slightly. ] And I think Axel learned something new. He wasn't doing it before when we encountered what look like rats, but then at the birds, he started spitting flames from his mouth.

[ Cue Axel make a sort of cheering noise at that in the background. ]

[Salty starts hassling her trainer for it, and Namine plunks the restless egg down on the hood of the coat she's wearing. The disgruntled egg pouts and buries its face in her hair with a yawn.]

It's nothing, it's just...

... I guess I'm just not used to being happy, that's all.

[And a sad smile appears on her face.]

That means he learned a new attack! After a certain number of battles, they learn new moves. Congrats to you both.

He only started breathing fire. I still didn't want him to go through it alone. [ Xion would otherwise feel useless if she's standing by and only giving orders. And while that is how the way things are, Xion can't really help herself. ]

You should. I know I don't know enough to say why you should, but...

He'll get strong soon enough, and the better you get at strategy, the more you'll keep him out of danger.
